At Orchard Vets getting a new puppy is as exciting for us as it is for you! Our dedicated nurse team run a four-week course of puppy parties to help introduce your new addition or indeed additions to the practice and to other puppies of similar age.

Early socialisation is key with puppies as they form a template of what is normal to expect in life. The key period for puppy socialisation takes place between 4-12 weeks because this is when your puppy’s brain is highly developing.

We cover a selection of subjects whilst your puppy has fun and plays in a relaxed but controlled environment, each party taking approximately one hour. Topics include:

  • Parasites (Fleas, worms, lungworm and ticks)
  • Nutrition
  • Dental care
  • Neutering
  • Basic training

Our trained staff are on hand to answer any questions you may have at this exciting but sometimes tricky period of development.

It’s important to us that visiting the vets is a positive experience, not a scary or uncomfortable one, so a further benefit of joining these classes is to create a positive bond for both you and your puppy with the practice to enable your family become part of ours, not just at the puppy stage but throughout its life.
