Controlling those pesky parasites!

One of the most common questions we get asked is how can I control parasites on my pet?

The answer is often a lengthy discussion which will begin with habits and risks associated with your pet, such as

• Do they go outside?
• Are they a hunter or do they scavenge?
• Do they go swimming?
• Are you or children likely to handle them soon after application?
• Are there other pets in the same household?
• Do you walk them in long grass or where ticks are knows to be present

It is also worth remembering that for every flea you see on your pet, there’s potentially another 19 in your carpet, albeit at different life stage of the flea, so always consider treating your home.

Please be aware that in most cases one of our veterinary surgeons will need to have physically examined you pet to be able provide products and we offer reduced rate appointments specifically for this purpose.  Our skilled nurses also run complimentary clinics to discuss this topic where they can apply spot ons and/or give tablets to your pet, taking the stress away from you where it’s difficult for you to give.
