COVID 19 UPDATE – We have started inviting clients back into the practice however in order to maintain social distancing we are allowing just 4 clients/visitors in, at any one time.  When numbers are reached, you may be offered a pager/buzzer as an alternative and asked to wait outside.  Face coverings are required and if you do not have your own, they can be purchased from us.  Do let us know if you suffer from any conditions that makes you exempt from wearing one.

We kindly request only one member of the family attends, where possible and aim to get for us at the correct time for your appointment to avoid ongoing delays.

Our standard opening hours are back to normal and can be found here

DO NOT COME TO THE SURGERY IF YOU ARE DEMONSTRATING CLINICAL SIGNS OF COVID-19! Thank you once again for your patience.

We have all the equipment necessary to do worm faecal egg counts here at Orchard. Not only is this far cheaper than sending samples away to a lab, it also means that we can have an answer for you within the hour (staff availability permitting) allowing animals to be treated if necessary without having to be re-gathered.

Worming regimes based on regular egg count monitoring (as opposed to worming at set times of year) is a useful tool for both cattle and sheep.

Only using wormers when they’re really needed can save money on unnecessary treatments and also help to slow the problem of drug resistance developing (already a major headache

to sheep farmers, and increasingly common in cattle). Faecal egg counts can also help to show weather drug resistance is already present on your farm.

For the month of August, individual tests cost £10 +VAT and we’ll even provide the sample pots for you. Please talk to us about the most effective way to make use of this service.
