There are so many benefits to early socialisation which is best done before sixteen weeks of age.

Puppies who have attended these groups are generally much happier about visiting the vets and better when interacting with other dogs and people.

This is an excellent chance to get early, positive associations when coming to the surgery and makes life so much easier and less stressful for pet and owner in later life when a  visit really is needed.

Puppy party riots at orchard vet. group!!!

There are high jinks aplenty at Orchard on Tuesday nights as this is the night our puppy parties take place.

Organised by Emma, one of our senior nurses we have regular groups of puppies and owners, to learn all about subjects like behaviour, training, flea and worm control, neutering, insurance and much more.  It’s also a chance to have an informal chat about any matters of concern or interest.

Socialising and getting puppies together at such a young age in ‘non-stressful’ circumstances pays dividends in later life when it comes to visiting the vets, meeting other dogs and getting on with people too.  It’s a case of ‘the younger the better’ when it comes to getting pups used to the wide world & we like to think we have played a positive part in their development.  The puppies themselves see it as an excellent opportunity to steal crisps and biscuits and have a bit of a romp.

If you have a new puppy why not contact the surgery for details of our next puppy party, get signed up and come along.
