Taking your pet abroad

If you read the information below, follow the links then contact the practice you'll find it a lot easier than it first looks.

By far the most common area of confusion is the difference between an export certificate and a "pet passport". Many people believe that they are one in the same but they are not although things have been made much easier by recent changes in pet passport regulations.

A  pet passport will allow your cat, dog or ferret to travel between certain qualifying countries without quarantine at any time you like.  Please bear in mind that a passport for re-entry into UK can take up to 7 & a half months to obtain, so you need to plan well ahead.

An export certificate on the other hand is a document you will require to travel to a country outside the qualifying countries and is limited to one journey at a specific time only.  Follow the links for more detailed information.
